Attempt At Poetry For You

This is how I see your determination to survive .....

Imagine your essence

Denying pain its satisfaction

Frustrating agony's attempts to destroy

Its skirmish with mind aborted in frustration

Its ferocious attempts to abduct a spirit, turned away, even as odds mount against survival

Again and again

Your will is the victor

Your resolve the champion

A resolute stand unweakened

As skeptical emotions fade

The shadows that attempted a coup have mostly withdrawn from the clearer vision

A raw testament of spirit .... of a greater stance

A distant admiration is always present

Of your desire for what used to be

Dream Number One Million

Awoke from a dream about two of my oldest friends, from grade school days and that one of them had passed away. I've been cognizant in recent years that one of us has to go first and the other two have to receive the news. It has me flashing back to our youth, speed rewinding and visualizing countless times spent together. Through grade school, high school and college ..... always in contact with each other.

We weren't troublemakers. Our shared adventures were in listening to music together, playing sports and making runs for fast food. Those years seemed like a lifetime back then and also now, looking back and reflecting.

Let There Be Light ..... and Heat!!!

Hey!! There's a thing on the wall and you flip it up and instantly, a darkened room is full of light!! When did they invent this? And why did no one tell me about it?

After exactly a week of no power, due to a massive ice storm that came through the area and living on candles and blankets (and freezing my ass off), my power was restored today. Not exactly how I wanted to celebrate my 65th birthday yesterday but a nice belated gift today.

They say that it was a once in a hundred years storm. Let's hope so. If so, I'll likely not be around for the next one.

Notes For a New Year

Just a few random notes .....

  • Instead of New Year resolutions (which I never engage in), I am thinking of regrets from a lifetime, which there are two or three. I've always been slightly skeptical of those people who claim to have no regrets
  • Top three recreational activities these days: 1) Walks in the park or around town looking for photo ops. 2) The never satisfied, never ending search for vinyl records. 3) Sleep.
  • Nine months of obsessive hand washing has given my hands the look of centuries aged tree bark.
  • I'm really starting to despise my shadow!!

The Grammar Police

Under the category, things that make me laugh .......

I think it's hilarious when reading the graffiti on the walls of the restroom at work and one tagger corrects the original taggers spelling and grammar usage.

Real example ...... "Your an idiot if you are reading this."  ...... and underneath the line and with an arrow pointing to the error in grammar is the properly used, "You're."
